Nov 07 - Cut, Finished, and Drilled Rudder Stiffeners
- 3.5 Hours
I finished shaping the rest of the rudder stiffners.

See my
previous post about the method that I use to
cut and shape the stiffeners.
Then I clecoed all of the stiffeners to the skin to make sure there is no intereference
between the stiffeners and the skin.

The rudder skin is only .020 - it's very pliable compared to the HS and VS skins.
You also have to be very careful when deburring - too much and the hole will be
enlarged.
Finally I drilled all of the stiffeners and skin to #40. I used a reamer as opposed
to a drill bit for this task. Check out
Wikipedia's article on reamers for more info. Short story is the reamer
produces a more accurate #40 hole.
